Malvern Concrete Pool

complete design freedom, built to last
Horizon Pools are custom concrete pool builders, designing and constructing bespoke concrete pools, lap pools, plunge pools, rooftop pools and pools for challenging sites across Melbourne, Bayside, Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, the Surf Coast and Macedon Ranges
For homeowners who want complete design freedom, a custom concrete pool opens possibilities that simply aren’t available with other pool types. Every element can be tailored, from shape and depth to finishes and features, so the pool you end up with reflects your home, your site and the way your family wants to live.
With more than 30 years designing and building concrete pools across Victoria, our experienced team project manages every stage from concept through to construction. We work closely with you, and where relevant your architect or landscape designer, to create a pool that feels like a natural extension of the home.
With concrete, nothing is off the table. You’re not choosing from a catalogue, you’re starting with a blank canvas.
Want a curved edge that follows your garden bed? A beach entry that stretches the full width? A perimeter overflow with integrated lighting?
Custom concrete swimming pool features like these are all possible when you’re not limited by a pre-formed shell. It’s the reason architects and designers consistently recommend concrete for homes where the details matter.
The best concrete pools don’t just sit in the backyard, they feel like they were always part of the house. We work with your home’s architectural style, materials, and sightlines to design a pool that connects naturally to the interior and surrounding landscape.
Whether it’s a heritage home, a contemporary build, or something in between, the pool should complement what’s already there. That level of integration is where concrete really sets itself apart from other pool types.
Why choose between a pool and a spa when you can have both? A concrete swimming pool and spa combination gives you the best of both worlds: space for swimming, playing, and cooling off, plus a warm spa for relaxation and hydrotherapy.
With concrete construction, we can integrate the spa seamlessly into your pool design, creating a unified look while keeping the two zones functionally separate.
If your property has a view, an infinity edge pool is one of the best ways to make the most of it. The water appears to flow seamlessly into the horizon, framing your outlook and creating a striking focal point that looks just as good from inside the house as it does from the water.
Our team has extensive experience engineering and building infinity edges that perform beautifully and stand the test of time.
Acrylic windows let you see straight into your pool from the side, not just from above. Clear panels are engineered directly into the concrete wall, giving you a feature that catches light, draws the eye, and lifts the whole outdoor space.
Acrylic windows are only possible with concrete construction, and they work beautifully in both family homes and architect-led builds.
For serious swimmers, a lap pool is a daily essential, not a luxury. A pool designed specifically for swimming laps lets you train properly at home, on your schedule, without the crowds and chlorine levels of a public pool.
With concrete pool construction, we can build lap pools to your exact specifications, whether that’s a standard 25-metre length, a compact 12-metre design for a smaller block, or something in between.
A small backyard doesn’t mean you have to miss out on a pool. With clever design and the flexibility of concrete construction, we can create a swimming pool that fits your space perfectly, no matter how tight the footprint.
Plunge pools and compact pools are ideal for courtyards, townhouses, narrow blocks, and urban properties where every square metre counts. They’re also a smart choice for homeowners who want a pool for cooling off and relaxing rather than swimming laps.
An indoor swimming pool offers something no outdoor pool can: year-round swimming in a controlled environment. No weather delays, no leaves in the water, and no waiting for summer. Whether you’re building a new home with an integrated pool or adding a pool enclosure to an existing property, concrete gives you the design flexibility to make it work.
At Horizon Pools, we’ve built indoor pools across Melbourne for homeowners who want to swim every day, regardless of the season.
Commercial swimming pools need to work harder than residential ones. They see more use, require more robust systems, and have to meet stricter compliance requirements. Whether it’s a hotel, apartment complex, gym, or aged care facility, the pool needs to be designed and built with commercial demands in mind.
At Horizon Pools, we have experience delivering commercial pool projects across Melbourne. We understand the regulations, the engineering requirements, and the practical realities of pools that serve multiple users.
A rooftop pool takes outdoor living to another level, literally. Whether it’s a city penthouse, a coastal home, or a multi-level property, a rooftop pool offers privacy, views, and a sense of escape that’s hard to replicate at ground level.
These are complex builds that require careful engineering and experienced construction. At Horizon Pools, we have the expertise to design and deliver rooftop pools that perform as well as they look.
A dated or worn pool doesn’t have to stay that way. With the right renovation, you can refresh the look, improve performance, and add features that make your pool more enjoyable to use.
At Horizon Pools, we renovate and upgrade concrete swimming pools across Melbourne. Whether you need a simple resurface or a complete redesign, our experienced team can assess your pool’s condition and recommend the best path forward.
Not every pool needs straight lines and sharp angles. A freeform pool takes its cues from nature, with organic curves and irregular shapes that blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. If you want a pool that feels like a natural lagoon rather than a built structure, freeform is the way to go.
With concrete pool construction, we have complete freedom to create curves, contours, and shapes that work with your site rather than imposing a rigid geometry on it.
When your vision goes beyond standard shapes and sizes, concrete pools offer the freedom to create something unique. From infinity edges to lap pools that integrate seamlessly with your home, custom concrete pool design opens up endless possibilities.
With concrete, your swimming pool can be any shape, size, or depth. Curved edges, geometric lines, freeform designs, it’s all possible. Want a beach entry on one side and a deep end for diving on the other? Need to wrap around an existing tree or tuck into an L-shaped courtyard?
Concrete is fully customisable. Seating, sun ledges, and hidden steps can all be built exactly where they make sense for your family.
A concrete swimming pool can complement your home’s style, whether that’s a heritage renovation, contemporary new build, or something in between. Tile colours, coping materials, and edge details can all be selected to match or contrast with your existing palette.
For architect-designed homes, concrete allows the pool to become part of the overall vision rather than a standalone addition. It’s why most high-end projects specify concrete from the start.
Our Concrete Pool Construction Process
As custom concrete swimming pool builders our process is designed to be clear, well-managed, and free of surprises from the first conversation through to handover.
It starts with a detailed design phase where we work through your ideas, your site conditions, and your budget to develop a plan that works. From there, our experienced team handles engineering, council approvals, construction and finishing of your pool. Throughout the build, you’ll have a dedicated project manager supporting you every step of the way, keeping you informed on progress, timelines, and any decisions that need your input, and on hand to answer questions whenever they come up.
A concrete swimming pool typically takes six to twelve weeks depending on the complexity of the design and site. It’s a longer process than fibreglass, but the level of customisation and the quality of the finished result make it well worth the wait.

Common Questions Answered
Most concrete pools take between six to twelve weeks from design to completion, depending on the complexity of the build and site conditions. It's a longer process than fibreglass, but the level of customisation you get with concrete pool construction makes the timeline well worth it.
With concrete, there are no fixed shapes or sizes. You can design any shape, depth, or profile to suit your block and lifestyle. Features like infinity edges, beach entries, integrated spas, acrylic windows, and custom tiling are all possible.
As much as you like. Every element is built from scratch, so you have full control over the shape, depth, entry style, interior finish, lighting, water features, and spa integration. If you can design it, we can build it.
Concrete pools do ask for a little more attention than fibreglass. Regular brushing and balanced water chemistry keep the surface clean and clear, so your pool stays beautiful for years to come. With a simple routine, looking after it becomes second nature.
We're genuine dual specialists, building both concrete and fibreglass, so we'll always recommend whichever option suits your home best. Our team project manages every stage of the build, giving you consistent quality, clear communication, and a single point of contact throughout.
Yes. Concrete is often the best option for sloping blocks, rooftops, limited access, or challenging ground conditions. Because the pool is built in place, we're not limited by crane access or pre-formed shell dimensions.
