Horizon Pools on TV: From The Block to Pool Spa Life

If you’ve been watching Australian lifestyle television over the past few years, you may have spotted some familiar pools. Horizon Pools has had the privilege of featuring on some of the country’s most popular home and lifestyle programs, showcasing our work to audiences across Australia.

From the competitive pressure of The Block to the stunning builds highlighted on Australia’s Best Pools, and recently featured on Pool Spa Life, our team has been busy bringing beautiful pools to the small screen. Here’s a look at where you might have seen us, and what’s coming up next.

Pool Spa Life on 9Life

Horizon Pools was featured in two episodes of Pool Spa Life, second season, which aired on 9Life in March.

Our first episode featured a beautiful project in Malvern, set behind a classic period home. The brief here was a familiar one, the owners wanted a pool without giving up their whole backyard. Our answer was a compact freeform concrete pool finished in soft sage green mosaic tiling, framed by herringbone paving that picks up the character of the home. The result is a pool that tucks neatly into the space, leaving room to move while still feeling like a considered, designed-for-the-home feature rather than an afterthought. It’s a great example of how a custom concrete pool can be shaped to suit even a compact courtyard.

The second episode showcased a stunning project in Rosanna, where our team tackled some seriously tricky access challenges to install an Aqua Technics Saint Remy fibreglass pool and spa combination in Silvermist. The Saint Remy is one of our most popular pool and spa designs, offering both a generous swimming area and an integrated spa zone within a single shell. It’s the perfect choice for families who want the best of both worlds without sacrificing backyard space.

Hosted by Walt Collins, Pool Spa Life takes viewers on a journey through the planning, building and maintaining of pools and spas, with expert insights from industry professionals. The show premiered on 9Life in January 2025 and has quickly become a favourite for anyone dreaming of their own backyard oasis.

The Block: Gisborne 2022

Back in 2022, Horizon Pools was part of one of the most talked-about seasons of The Block. Set in the picturesque Macedon Ranges at Gisborne, this series saw five couples take on the challenge of renovating sprawling country properties, complete with extensive outdoor spaces.

We were proud to install fibreglass pools for two of the competing houses:

House 1: Sarah and Tom

For Sarah and Tom’s property, we installed a Valentina fibreglass pool in the stunning Platinum colour. The Valentina is known for its modern, geometric style that complements any outdoor area. With its generous swimming space and extended bench seating, it’s ideal for family entertaining, exactly what the judges were looking for in a country home designed for relaxation and gathering.

Sarah and Tom went on to win backyard week and the series and were fan favourites for their down-to-earth approach and quality work. Their house sold at auction, and the couple have since welcomed their second child.

House 4: Dylan and Jenny

For Dylan and Jenny, the tradie couple from Queensland, we installed an Istana fibreglass pool in the beautiful Hamptons Blue colour. Known for their incredible work ethic and hands-on approach, Dylan and Jenny understood the value of quality workmanship. As a builder and apprentice tradie team, they were a pleasure to work with and created a stunning family home complete with expansive outdoor entertaining areas overlooking the Macedon Ranges.

The Hamptons Blue colour was a perfect choice for their property, creating a fresh, coastal-inspired feel that complemented the relaxed country lifestyle the couple were aiming for.

The Block Gisborne was one of the most ambitious builds in the show’s history, with contestants working on the largest houses ever featured in challenging conditions. Being part of that experience and seeing our pools showcased to millions of viewers was a genuine highlight for the Horizon Pools team.

Australia’s Best Pools: Four Episodes and Counting

Horizon Pools has been fortunate to feature in four episodes of Australia’s Best Pools, the hit 9Life series hosted by Dave Franklin that celebrates the country’s most impressive pool designs.

The show takes viewers behind the scenes of stunning pool projects, exploring everything from initial concept through to completion. It’s a fantastic platform for showcasing what’s possible when quality craftsmanship meets thoughtful design.

Here are the Horizon Pools projects featured on the show:

Caulfield: Sovereign in Blue Steel

Our Caulfield project featured the Sovereign fibreglass pool in the striking Blue Steel colour. This sophisticated colour choice creates a dramatic focal point in the backyard while complementing the modern architecture of the home.

Geelong: Empire in Horizon

On the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula, we installed an Empire pool in the Horizon colour. The Empire is one of our most popular designs, offering a space-saving footprint without compromising on swimming area. It’s perfect for families who want a quality pool that fits beautifully into their outdoor space.

Eynesbury: Palazzo in Silvermist

The Eynesbury project showcased the impressive Palazzo pool in Silvermist, a lighter colour that creates a serene, inviting atmosphere. Eynesbury is a stunning part of Melbourne’s west, and this pool was designed to complement the natural surroundings while providing a resort-style experience at home.

Williamstown: Custom Concrete Pool

This isn’t a pool added to a home, it’s a pool that shaped one. When the owners of this 120-year-old California bungalow decided to extend, the architecturally designed concrete pool became the starting point, with kitchen, living, and dining all oriented toward the water. The result is a generous swimming area with integrated seating ledges and a raised goblet spa in contrasting dark tiles that ties back to the kitchen’s black cabinetry. Timber batten fencing adds warmth while frameless glass keeps the pool visible from every room. Building on Melbourne’s western bluestone took ten days of rock breaking, with the pool constructed right to the edge of the building. A large pool on a small site, proof that limited space doesn’t mean limited ambition.

Why Television Features Matter

Being featured on programs like The Block, Australia’s Best Pools, and Pool Spa Life isn’t just great exposure for our business. It’s an opportunity to show Australians what’s possible in their own backyards.

For us, it’s a chance to demonstrate the workmanship, attention to detail and customer service that has earned us over 100 awards throughout our 30 plus years in the industry, including recognition from SPASA, the peak body for the pool and spa industry.

The Horizon Pools Difference

Whether we’re installing a pool for a television production or a family home in Melbourne’s suburbs, our approach is the same. We listen to what our clients want, provide honest advice about the best options for their space and budget, and deliver a quality result that will last for decades.

As specialists in both fibreglass and concrete pools, we offer something most pool builders can’t: genuine expertise across both construction methods. This means we can recommend the right solution for each project without bias, whether that’s a quick-install fibreglass pool or a fully custom concrete design.

Our television appearances showcase some of our most impressive work, but every pool we build receives the same care and attention. From initial consultation through to handover, we treat every project as if it’s going to be on national television.
