The owners of this chic Victorian home in Malvern wanted a pool that felt like a natural extension of the house rather than an addition to it. With a busy young family and an existing indoor entertaining zone, the brief was for a luxurious yet easy-to-use pool that opened the home up into a seamless indoor-outdoor retreat, all within a tight inner-city footprint. Horizon Pools delivered a sophisticated, timeless design that does exactly that.
The 7m x 5.5m geometric pool is finished in ceramic tile, with a softly curved corner that eases the geometry and gives the space a sense of flow. Herringbone natural stone coping adds texture and craftsmanship around the water’s edge, while premium tiling and considered orientation balance maximum sunlight with privacy. The result complements the home’s period character while introducing a clean, modern sophistication.
The site was the real test. The pool had to make the most of a limited space without undermining the existing dwelling or disturbing established trees, which called for careful structural engineering and precise excavation to protect footings and root systems. Access and scheduling were just as demanding, with works coordinated around a neighbouring clinic so machinery movements and noise never clashed with patient appointments. Disciplined programming and close communication kept everything running smoothly.
